According to several scientific studies, productivity in the workplace is negatively affected when there are higher humidity and temperatures in it. This makes sense because nobody feels comfortable working in a hot room. Not only does it make you feel sleepy, but it impairs your judgement and concentration as well.

The solution to this problem might seem like you need to lower the temperature in the workplace, but if it’s lowered too much, then it might cause employees to develop illnesses or complain about the cold temperature.

Therefore, employees need the ideal room temperature in order to work faster, longer and focus better. It is recommended to set the air conditioning temperature to anywhere from 20°C to 21°C.

However, this recommendation might not suit everybody because we all work in different sized offices and buildings. If you have a small office, then you don’t need such a cold temperature. You can afford to turn it up a few degrees to a cooler temperature that is not too cold.

Here are some tips on how to select the best air conditioner for your workplace.

1) Pick the Right Type

What type of air conditioner would work the best in your workplace? Do you need a cassette, wall-mounted or ducted system?

Would a water-cooled or refrigerant system be better for your application?

2) Size

Make sure your contractor is selecting a correctly sized unit for your space. Oversized units are more expensive to buy and will also lead to future cooling/heating problems whilst drastically shortening the life of the equipment.

Be wary of companies trying to sell you over specified equipment.

3) Maintenance

When you spend a lot of money for an air conditioning unit, you’ll want it to last for as long as possible. The only way you can make that happen is by performing regular maintenance on the unit. Failure to perform regular maintenance will shorten its lifespan and increase its energy consumption. Get professional maintenance done if you don’t have experience at this.

If you have lots of equipment on-site you may also be breaking the law by not having routine leak checks done. Speak to Athena Air to ensure you are following legislation!
